Every prep owns a Saint James t-shirt. It’s one of those preppy essentials without which no wardrobe is complete. So when I heard that J.Crew had teamed up with Saint James to make Espadrilles, $36, I knew they were the next Delight of the Day! I’ve really wanted a pair of flat espadrilles for quite some time now, but I haven’t been sure which pair to order; now I’m pretty sure I’ve finally found them! What would you wear these with?

Today’s Delight of the Day is the Collection Cashmere Polka-Dot Sweater from J.Crew, $268. I promised you more J.Crew, and now I’m delivering. I adore this top. I can totally picture Audrey Hepburn wearing this, a pair of Minnies, and loafers, riding around with Cary Grant. Sigh. Also, if you haven’t tried J.Crew’s cashmere, you’re missing out. I stocked up when I worked there (hello – 50% discount!) because of how comfy it is. Enjoy!

The lovely Juliette of Cape Cod Shoe Supply asked if I would be interested in doing a review of her new shoes, the Mainsail. I quickly jumped on her website and saw how adorable these flip flops are and immediately said yes! Their website describes the Mainsail as, “Almost like being barefoot…turk’s knot braided flip flops are made of twice-washed cotton rope and a soft rubber/EVA bottom,” and I have to agree.
As soon as I put these on my feet, they were comfortable. There was no need to break them in, and I didn’t get any blisters after a few hours (I wish I could say the same for some of my other flip flops. Ahem, Rainbow.) I paired them with a pair of navy chinos and a Jackie pullover to run some errands on my day off, and I can’t tell you how many compliments I received! Preps are no stranger to the turk’s knot, but I love the idea of having it on my shoes instead of just on a bracelet on my wrist or on the straps of a bag. I absolutely love the design Juliette came up with and can’t wait to try the other colors!
They come in pink and green (the combo I chose!), white, and navy and white – giving you plenty of options as to what to wear with them. Plus, great news, Cape Cod Shoe Supply makes them for women AND men! Just imagine a stroll on the beach with the boy when you’re both wearing these shoes. Picture perfect!
Also, check out Juliette’s story on how Cape Cod Shoe Supply came to be; it makes me want to head to the beach for some inspiration right away!
“The concept came late at night, in China of all places. I had just had another perfect weekend on Cape Cod – and had to rush back to New York, jump on a plane, and be off again on another business trip. I reached into my bag and pulled out a sailor’s knot bracelet; a stowaway from the weekend.
As I sat there exhausted, with this piece of Cape Cod in my hand, I thought about the bracelet and what it means, what it really is: It’s vacation. It’s adventures and silliness. It’s sailing and swimming and getting dirty and having fun. It’s barbeques and clambakes and friends and cousins. It’s popped collars, boat shoes, and too much seersucker. It’s our childhood. It’s the beach. It’s summer.
Cape Cod shoe supply is about uncomplicated styling with a youthful spirit. We’ve started with a simple flip flop- putting thought and detail into every component of the design. The twice-washed, 100% cotton rope is hand braided and stitched, and the leather piece will naturally burnish over time. We hope you like wearing them through all of your summer adventures.”

Today’s Delight of the Day is the Tie-Neck Top in Dot from J.Crew, $118. They have this shirt styled several different ways on the site, and I absolutely love it. It’s so feminine and fun! Expect many more Delights of the Day from J.Crew’s Fall Collection – they nailed it.

Good morning, everyone! Today’s Delight of the Day is a wardrobe staple that every preppy gal should own – Jack Rogers Navajos, $105. Jackie O first made these classics popular back in the 60s, and preppy girls everywhere have been collecting them ever since. I love them in Platinum, as I think it’s a color that can be paired with pretty much everything. As you can see, Jackie wore them with everything from casual pants to shift dresses to dressy sheath dresses. She was so ahead of her time!

Today’s Delight of the Day is this Monogram Necklace from Etsy, $31.95 for the silver and $59 for the gold. These necklaces have been everywhere lately, but this is a much more affordable version. I don’t personally own one, so I can’t speak to the quality of these, but they look super adorable in the pictures, and I’m sure they’re just as nice as other, more expensive versions. Do you own a monogrammed necklace?
