Archive for February, 2012

Every prep knows sunglasses are an essential piece to any outfit. Most of us already own a pair of Ray-Bans, but, if not (or if you’re looking for more!), here are my favorite picks – all updates of the classic wayfarers.

 Ralph Lauren Sunglasses, $125-$137.50
Hello…one pair has tartan! How amazing!

Ray-Ban Outsider Oversized in Tortoise, $139

Ray-Ban Outsider in Black, $139

Ray-Ban Classic Wayfarer, $145

Karen Walker Deep Freeze, $180

Karen Walker Perfect Day, $180

Ray-Ban Wayfarer in Repp Stripe from Brooks Brothers, $150

These are my personal favorite. I’ve been looking for Ray-Bans for years, and this is the only pair that actually fits my face. They fold up so much that you can put them in your clutch!

Tommy Hilfiger Spring 2012

Tommy Hilfiger is another one of my favorite preppy brands. They’ve made a HUGE comeback in the preppy world, holding those Prep World Pop-Ups with Lisa Birnach (True Prep) last summer/fall. If you missed it, you need to google it.

In keeping with my excitement for springtime, I’ve chosen my favorites for the ladies. I hope you enjoy!

I was recently the lucky winner of a BEAUTIFUL clutch from J.McLaughlin thanks to Kerry from Monograms & Martinis. Even my father, who never notices anything dealing with fashion, exclaimed, “That’s so classy! It reminds me of something your grandmother would have used in the 60s!” (And we all know how partial I am to the 60s. What a glamorous time! I digress…)

I’ve long since been a fan of J.McLaughlin. They have so much to offer! And I can honestly say I love their accessories just as much as their clothing, which is rare for me. (I find most companies are only really good at one or other.) So, as my way of saying thank you to J.McLaughlin, and open your eyes to an amazing brand, I’m going to highlight my favorite pieces from their website.

The Laney Dress in Aqua, $195

The Laney Dress in White & Cosmo, $195

The Relaxed Whitney Check Blouse in Aqua & Blue, $98

The Ahoy Matie Stripe Shirt in Robbin’s Egg, $115

The Austin Print Canvas Skirt in White, Brown, & Off White, $155
(You can see the size of the clutch really well here!)

The Striped Elastic Belt with Leather Trim in Navy & Off White, $65

The Large Sailcloth Duffle, $285 with monogram
(Yes, this is the same one that has been all over Pinterest)

I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

Delight of the Day 2/27

Today’s Delight of the Day is from Emma Graham – who has been EVERYWHERE lately. My good friend over at The Liberal Prep tells me that they just added the former COO of J.Crew and Gilt Groupe, so, of course, they have great style!

The Berkeley Skirt is my latest obsession. I’m not sure which color I’d like, so I posted them all. You actually have the option of choosing the skirt in any of these colors and selecting a different color for the piping. However, I’m a simple gal, so I’m sticking with one color. Which do you like best?!

House of Southern Accents

I was recently lucky enough to win a giveaway from the House of Southern Accents via Lauren’s, D.C. Girl in Pearls, blog. I received my bowtie yesterday, and I LOVE it. I can’t decide if I want to give it to the beau or keep it for Atticus. They’d both look quite handsome!

If you’ve never checked out her shop, you need to do so now! She handmakes all of the bowties (and also bowtie collars for puppies & headbands). Pick your favorite pattern, and she’ll make you a beautiful bowtie! Below are my favorites.
