“…I’d settle down and give the cat a name!”
Every girl has seen Breakfast at Tiffany’s. The movie revolutionized how women were seen in film, and – later – in society. With the creation of Holly Golightly, the independent woman was born. And while Coco Chanel may have invented the Little Black Dress, it was Audrey’s Givenchy sheath that made the LBD an instant classic. Givenchy wanted Miss Golightly to have a chic wardrobe, but Holly was a call girl who could never seem to save money. Thus, he gave her the Little Black Dress and many, many different ways to wear it.
This post will highlight the classic sheath dress. I’ve chosen four price ranges: under $50, under $100, under $200, and $200+. It’s easy to create an effortlessly chic look on a tight budget, but if you’re willing to splurge, this is the item to do it on. Also, I can’t stress enough how important it is to try your sheath on before buying it. Sheath dresses should be tailored to your body, so ordering from the internet probably won’t work – unless your willing to buy multiple dresses at once. And even if you usually shy away from a tailor, this an item you MUST have tailored, unless you find the one in a million dress that fits like a glove. Enjoy!
